I love Halloween decorations. The combination of black with bright colors really makes an impact and it allows me to embrace my funky side with no judgment. 🙂 I got the inspiration for these Halloween apothecary jars from Pinterest but the original pin isn’t available anymore.
Here’s what you’ll need…
- 3 – 38 oz Glass Jars
- 3 – Unfinished Wood Finials
- 3 – Pillar Candleholders
- E6000 Glue
- Rustoleum Black Spray Paint
- Silhouette Cutting Machine (if you want to splurge)
- Vinyl Letters – find some pre-cut in a craft store, or if you have a die-cut machine use:
Here’s how you’ll make them…
- The first thing you’ll need to do is paint your surfaces with the Rustoleum spray paint….the finials, jar lids and candle holders. The first time I made these I purchased the unfinished wooden candle holders and painted them. The second time, I purchased black pillar candle holders I found at the 99 Cent store. Either option works great.
- Cut out the Silhouette letters and spider webs using black permanent vinyl.
- Clean and dry the glass jars.
- Place the vinyl letters on the glass jars and position the spider webs above the “O”s.
- With the E6000, adhere the finials to the jar lids.
Candy!
Now it’s time to fill the jars with candy corn! Here’s a little trick… Instead of buying 40 pounds of candy corn, place a glass upside down inside the jar to fill up empty space. But even with the glass inside the jar, each jar held a 22oz bag of candy corn. Of course, if you want to buy 40 pounds of candy corn there is no judgment here! I love candy corn! But I admit I’m a candy corn snob. It has to be Brach’s. But I digress…
.
Once the jars were filled with candy, I adhered the jars to the candle holders.
All done!
I love how these turned out. Give these Halloween Apothecary Jars a try and let me know what you think.
Happy tinkering,
Susan
In some parts of the Europe we don’t have this tradition but I find it so amazing! I have to send this post to some of my friends 😉
Those are super cute! Love the outcome. I’m actually not a fan of candy corn but I would definitely buy a few bags to spice up my living room decor!
This is such a good idea! I would have never thought of this myself. I love that you can save these and use them year after year.
What a fun idea for Halloween!! I love decor that is functional and can be used for many years. 🙂
