Happy National Card Making Day!

Over the years I haven’t used alot of card sketches but I decided to see what it would be like to rely on card sketches to make cards for a whole 6×6 paper pad. Echo Park has a fun new line called Celebrate Christmas and that’s what I used for my challenge. I bought the 6×6 paper pad, the enamel dots and the ephemera. Scrapbook.com is where I go for alot of my paper crafting needs. Their warehouse is here in Phoenix. Yea!
To find my sketches I went to the Operation Write Home website. This fabulous organization has closed but last I checked I was still able to get to their sketches.
What I kind of liked about using sketches is they were a great way to begin a design. As you can see by my cards below and the corresponding sketch, some of the cards look nothing like the sketch! But that’s okay. The sketches are just a way to go from nothing to something….a great jumping off point.
I ended up making 17 cards with this paper pad. I could have made a few more, I had a little paper left over…but to be honest my attention deficit kicked in and I just needed to move on to something else. 🙂
I paired the Echo Park paper pad and embellishments with solid cardstock and ribbon I had on-hand. I used Kraft paper from Michaels for the background of each card.
Take a look at the cards I made next to the sketch I used as my inspiration below…
